LEADERSHIP
Founder

Malik Shabazz
Founder and CEO, StackHaus · Pasadena, California
Malik Shabazz founded StackHaus in 2025 after recognizing that the structural failures in post-disaster residential recovery — fragmented across insurance, FEMA, permitting, and construction — could not be fixed inside any one of those silos. A Pasadena resident, he founded the company in the aftermath of the January 2025 Eaton Fire.
Shabazz brings nearly a decade of senior government affairs and policy strategy experience to StackHaus, with leadership and advisory roles spanning federal regulatory policy, congressional engagement at Goldman Sachs, and public affairs work across Washington, D.C. and New York. His prior engagements include the Podesta Group, Biogen, the Office of the New York City Public Advocate, and the Eric Adams 2021 mayoral campaign.
His policy background informs the StackHaus thesis: that the rebuild crisis is fundamentally an institutional architecture problem, not a construction problem.
"Engineers have known how to make a home survive a wildfire for twenty years. The problem isn't engineering — it's that the math doesn't work for a single homeowner. We built StackHaus to fix the math."

StackHaus Launches the First Residential Delivery Platform for Homeowners Rebuilding After Wildfires, Hurricanes, Floods and Total-Loss Events
Technology-enabled platform combines financing, design, permitting, construction, and warranty services into one accountable system; announces $2.5 million seed round
StackHaus today announced its official launch and a $2.5 million seed financing round to modernize one of the most fragmented and stressful experiences in residential real estate: rebuilding a home.
Designed for homeowners recovering from wildfires, hurricanes, floods, severe storms, and other major property losses, StackHaus introduces a new category of residential delivery — bringing financing, design, engineering, permitting, construction, and warranty services together through one coordinated platform.
The company was founded on a simple belief: Rebuilding should not feel like a second disaster.
For decades, homeowners rebuilding after a loss have been forced to coordinate a complex network of insurance professionals, architects, engineers, permit specialists, lenders, contractors, inspectors, and vendors — often with no single point of accountability. StackHaus replaces that fragmented process with one contract, one fixed price, and one accountable team.
Solving a Growing National Problem
The launch comes as homeowners across the United States face increasing challenges from natural disasters, rising construction costs, insurance market disruption, and housing shortages. Millions of homes are located in regions exposed to wildfire, hurricane, flood, and severe weather risks. While demand for replacement housing continues to rise, the process itself remains largely unchanged — homeowners are often expected to act as developers, coordinating dozens of moving parts during one of the most stressful periods of their lives.
A New Approach to Home Rebuilding
StackHaus standardizes the entire path from land to move-in through a six-stage delivery model: Feasibility & Project Planning, Financing Strategy, Design & Engineering, Permitting & Approvals, Construction, and Move-In & Long-Term Warranty. Through a single managed workflow, homeowners gain access to a coordinated team responsible for guiding every phase of the project.
Embedded Financing Removes a Critical Barrier
StackHaus integrates financing directly into the rebuilding process, helping homeowners evaluate available pathways — including insurance proceeds, land equity, cash, and structured financing — before construction begins. By combining project delivery and financing strategy into a single experience, the company aims to accelerate timelines and increase project completion rates.
"Homeowners should not have to become developers just to rebuild a home. For too long, families have been forced to navigate architects, lenders, permits, contractors, insurance claims, and dozens of disconnected stakeholders on their own. We built StackHaus to replace that fragmentation with one accountable system."
— Malik Shabazz, Founder & CEO, StackHaus
Use of Funds
The $2.5 million seed financing will support platform development, market expansion, strategic partnerships, customer acquisition, and operational growth. StackHaus is initially focused on California — including wildfire-affected communities such as Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Pasadena, and Malibu — with planned expansion into Florida, Texas, Georgia, and additional high-risk housing markets.

16 months after LA fires, only dozens of homes rebuilt. StackHaus pledges $750K for 500 survivors
End-to-end platform handles the entire rebuild — financing, insurance, FEMA, grants, permitting, and full construction of a disaster-resilient home — under one fixed-price contract
Sixteen months after the January 2025 Palisades and Eaton fires destroyed 16,246 structures, the recovery is failing on two fronts: almost no homes have been completed, and the few being built aren't engineered to survive the next fire. As of May 20, 2026, LA County had issued 2,647 rebuild permits in Eaton/Altadena but recorded only 52 completed new residences. Pasadena finaled just 5. An April 2026 POLITICO analysis found only 34 homes rebuilt across Pacific Palisades and Altadena combined, with 5,704 of the 9,900 destroyed lots yet to file an application. A May 2026 engineering analysis by fire protection engineer Nate Wittasek, P.E. found only 15–25% of current rebuilds include hardening beyond California code minimum.
StackHaus, an end-to-end platform for designing, financing, building, and managing disaster-resilient homes, today announced a $750,000 pledge providing free pre-feasibility studies — typically valued at $1,500 — to 500 fire-affected homeowners, first-come, first-served through May 2027.
Unlike traditional builders that hand homeowners off between architects, lenders, insurers, and contractors, StackHaus manages the entire rebuild under a single fixed-price contract: financing, insurance recovery, FEMA navigation, grants, permitting, and full ground-up construction. Homes are delivered fully resilient as standard — non-combustible concrete structure, Class A roof, ember-resistant vents, fire-rated openings, and a five-foot non-combustible perimeter, all built to IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home Plus alignment and verified by third-party inspection.
"Engineers have known how to make a home survive a wildfire for twenty years. The problem isn't engineering — it's that the math, the financing, the insurance, and the construction were never anyone's single responsibility. StackHaus was built to be the one team that owns the entire rebuild."
— Malik Shabazz, Founder & CEO, StackHaus
The program prioritizes homeowners in Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Pasadena, Malibu, and Topanga whose primary residences were destroyed in the January 7, 2025 fires. Eligible homeowners can apply at stackhaus.co/StartRebuild.
